Good Food Project: Grocery Bagging

In partnership with the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (HACP), large food donations are repackaged weekly into 500+ individual grocery bags and redistributed to HACP residents. Your team will work together, unloading bulk food donations, repackaging into single servings, and creating bags of fresh food for distribution.

Groups of 8, up to 10

Must be able to lift ~25 lbs. Must be 16 years of age to participate, and under 18 must have a parent or guardian present.

Good Food Project: Kitchen Prep

The Good Food Project, a zero-waste kitchen nestled inside the Millvale Food + Energy Hub, stabilizes bulk surplus food by transforming it into healthy, heat-and-eat meals. Volunteer sous chefs assists with food prep and packaging. No kitchen experience is required. Must be 16 years of age to participate, and under 18 must have a parent or guardian present.

Good Food Project Takeover

Larger groups will rotate through both Grocery Bagging and Zero Waste Kitchen Prep programs.

App Takeover

Guided by our friendly, intuitive app, our Food Rescue Heroes recover fresh, healthy food from retailers and transport it directly to nonprofit partners serving those facing food insecurity. We'll host a quick orientation, then your team will take off for food rescues, while we tell your story via all social platforms.

3-6 vehicles; 2-3 people per vehicle

PNC Park - FULL THIS SEASON

Closed for the season, join our email list to get first dibs next year! Please send requests to: volunteer@412foodrescue.org.

After each Pittsburgh Pirate homestand, 412 Food Rescue volunteers have the opportunity to join us at the PNC Park stadium to package excess food for donation. Our fleet team will then deliver this food to local nonprofits.

This volunteering opportunity is popular, and dates fill up fast! A minimum donation of $500 required for corporate groups.
