412 Food Rescue proudly announces our 2023 Impact Report, showcasing a year of notable growth and resilience. Guided by Interim CEO Karin Sabey and our Board of Directors, and supported by dedicated volunteers and staff, we rescued 4.4 million pounds of food locally, contributing to a total of 32 million pounds since our inception.
Despite challenges such as the temporary closure of the Good Food Project, we deepened our impact through innovative partnerships and initiatives like the Grocery Bagging Program and upcoming projects like FarmShare and Hidden Harvest.
These efforts advance our mission to combat food waste and hunger.
In 2023, we made significant strides in organizational growth through strategic hires and promotions, enhancing our dispatch and fleet operations.
Our dispatch team expertly managed logistics and community connections, while our fleet team, led by Keith DeVries, ensured the efficient transport of large food donations, upholding our values of dignity and environmental responsibility.
These advancements position us for continued growth and greater collective impact.
Our approach to partnerships—rooted in collaboration and mutual benefit—continues to drive our mission. In 2023, this principle was exemplified through our efforts to address barriers such as time and transportation, ensuring that nutritious food reaches those in need while reducing food waste. Events like the Nonprofit Partner Forum have strengthened our network, highlighting the power of collective action.
”Thank you so much for the amazing opportunity to meet and collaborate with so many players in the Pittsburgh nonprofit arena. As someone new and helping to rebuild a food bank from the ground up, I can't express how important, priceless, this information is regarded.”
