We believe that food education is an essential step in linking the farm to table disconnect and ensuring that the fresh food we bring makes it to families’ tables.
412 Food Rescue has been chosen as the regional partner for Share Our Strength’s award-winning Cooking Matters curriculum. Cooking Matters is a nationally recognized food education curriculum that spans 6 weeks and is designed to teach adults, children and caregivers how to cook healthy food on a budget.
412 Food Rescue’s Cooking Matters is the only adult-focused, in-depth food education in the region. Our goal is to have a “cooking school in every community” — to enable our nonprofit network to offer the curriculum in the communities they serve.
In 2016, we launched Cooking Matters in the region in partnership with UPMC Children’s Hospital via the County’s Family Support Center network. We continue to develop food education programs in partnership with communities. If you are a partner interested in bringing food education in your community, please contact us.
