Seasonal Savings Hit Home Run for Hunger

Throughout the 2023 MLB season, Giant Eagle and the Pittsburgh Pirates teamed up to offer savings to patrons, with proceeds benefiting 412 Food Rescue.

Giant Eagle Advantage card holders were offered select Pirates home game tickets at up to half the regular price. With every ticket sold through the initiative, a portion of the proceeds went to support 412 Food Rescue programs.

We stand in true gratitude for the incredible impact forged through our partnership with Giant Eagle and the Pittsburgh Pirates. As the season and the program came to a close, we are thrilled to announce that the total amount donated to 412 Food Rescue reached an astonishing $26,559!

The culmination of this fantastic collaboration was marked last Wednesday, with staff members from both Giant Eagle and the Pirates front office participating in a heartwarming volunteer day at 412 Food Rescue’s Grocery Bagging program.

As staples of the Greater Pittsburgh community, both companies’ presence was not only a symbol of corporate responsibility, but a tangible commitment to making a difference in the lives of the community members they serve.

Along with members of the Pirates organization, including the esteemed retiree Neil Walker and the beloved Pirate Parrot, the Giant Eagle team presented 412 Food Rescue with a “BIG” check after their day of volunteering.

Giant Eagle is proud to have partnered with two hometown teams – the Pittsburgh Pirates and 412 Food Rescue – in helping to serve our neighbors and communities. We are honored to have played a part in raising $26,000 for 412 Food Rescue and their mission of fighting hunger. The recent program, as well as the volunteer day spent bagging and donating meals, exemplifies what impact we can make when we work forward as a team."

In the spirit of teamwork and community, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in this program! This season, we’re not only celebrating the Pirates’ successes on the field but also championing a victory against food insecurity in our city.
