Retired? Rescuing good food is a great way to spend your time!
“Since retiring about two years ago, we’ve been doing two to three regular weekly rescues every week. Giving back every week is a priority for us.”
– Carol & Bob Forloines

Be a Food Rescue Hero today!
Our volunteers are our personal heroes. Seven days a week across six counties in the Pittsburgh region, Food Rescue Heroes transport surplus food donations from retailers to nearby communities burdened by hunger.
With the 412 Food Rescue app, you can volunteer as much or as little as you’d like. Claim a weekly rescue to volunteer every week at the same place, same time. Or claim a one-time rescue that need to be transported as soon as possible.
Regardless, you can give back when it fits best into your schedule. It’s easy to make a difference. And for whatever you do, we thank you.
“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say. 'It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.' Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.”Fred Rogers
