Greetings, 412 Food Rescue Community!
I’m excited to share some insights and highlights from my recent trip to the Home Delivery World 2024 conference, held in June at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. As the Director of Logistics for 412 Food Rescue, this event was a tremendous opportunity to both present our work and learn from other industry leaders.
Transforming Surplus into Impact
My presentation, titled “Transforming Surplus into Impact: Nonprofit Food Recovery in Logistics”, was my highlight of the conference. It was inspiring to see the interest and engagement from attendees, which led to a fantastic collaboration opportunity with Michigan State University. This partnership promises to enhance our food recovery efforts and expand our impact.
Learning and Growth
The first day of the conference was packed with invaluable sessions. I gained deep insights into servant leadership, DEI representation, and allyship. These topics are crucial as we strive to build a more inclusive and supportive environment within our organization and our broader community.
Day two was dedicated to the future of logistics, particularly fleet electrification. I learned about best practices and the barriers to deployment, which will be instrumental as we consider the next steps in greening our fleet. These insights are particularly timely as we aim to improve our fleet efficiency and sustainability.
Networking and Connections
One of the most rewarding aspects of the conference was the opportunity to network with other logistics professionals. The connections made here will undoubtedly lead to future collaborations and innovations that will benefit 412 Food Rescue and our mission.
In conclusion, the Home Delivery World 2024 conference was an enriching experience that will have a lasting impact on our work at 412 Food Rescue. I look forward to implementing these new ideas and partnerships to further our mission of transforming surplus into impact.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our mission. Together, we can make a significant difference in our community.
Warm regards,
Kristie Abercrombie
