Pittsburgh Pirates x 412 Food Rescue
We’re thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership between the Pittsburgh Pirates and 412 Food Rescue for the 2024 season!
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and community welfare, the Pirates have joined hands with us to “strike-out” food waste. Starting this season, after each Pirates’ homestand, volunteers will have the opportunity to join us at PNC Park to collect excess food.
These food rescues will operate a little differently than traditional food rescues, as the food will be retrieved from around PNC Park and gathered in a centralized location on site to be loaded onto one of 412 Food Rescue’s fleet trucks, to be delivered to members of the community that afternoon.
These special rescues at PNC Park began earlier this week, and will continue to take place on the following dates between 9:30am – 12pm:
- May 14, 2024 (Tuesday)
- May 28, 2024 (Tuesday)
- June 11, 2024 (Tuesday)
- June 25, 2024 (Tuesday)
- July 10, 2024 (Wednesday)
- July 26, 2024 (Friday)
- August 12, 2024 (Monday)
- August 30, 2024 (Friday)
- September 17, 2024 (Tuesday)
- September 30, 2024 (Friday)
*dates are subject to change*
This is truly a team effort, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. We extend our sincerest gratitude to the Pittsburgh Pirates and Aramark staff for their role as stewards of sustainability and their enthusiasm for this initiative.
Whether you’re a seasoned 412 Food Rescue volunteer or looking to embark on a new adventure in community service, we invite you to join us for these collection events throughout the Pirates’ season! It’s a cool chance to create a genuine impact and be part of something meaningful, all while enjoying the distinctive atmosphere of PNC Park from a fresh perspective.
We’re eager to see the Pittsburgh community come together to support this new partnership. If you’re interested in volunteering, please sign up here:
