For another year, one of 412 Food Rescue’s staff is recognized in Pittsburgh Magazine’s list of emerging leaders in the region. This year, Greg Austin is among the other 40 honorees named as part of their “exemplary group of people working to make our region a better place.”
The “40 Under 40” award annually highlights a select group of individuals who have demonstrated exceptional prowess in their respective fields and have made significant contributions to their communities. This recognition not only acknowledges their current accomplishments but also foreshadows the incredible potential they hold for the future.
According to Pittsburgh Magazine, “one phrase that kept coming up over and over in regard to this year’s 40 Under 40 winners is: ‘breaking barriers.'” Many honorees this year have excelled in fields that have traditionally not been accessible to them and are working to help others succeed in those fields as well.
Greg’s recognition for this award comes as no surprise to those who have had the privilege of working alongside him. From his early days in the industry to his current role, Greg has exhibited a commitment to excellence that has inspired his colleagues and peers alike.
What truly sets Greg apart is not just his professional success, but also his unwavering commitment to giving back. He has been an instrumental force in numerous community initiatives, including The Good Food Project, where he leads a team of staff and volunteers to take donated, miscellaneous ingredients and turn them into meals for food-insecure communities around the Greater Pittsburgh region, making anywhere from 800 to 1,300 meals per week.
Greg’s ability to balance his professional pursuits with meaningful contributions to society exemplifies the qualities that the “40 Under 40” award seeks to honor.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Greg on this well-deserved nomination. Your dedication and accomplishments continue to inspire us all!
