Our Nonprofit Partner Open Forum took place on November 14th, hosted at the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, where an environment of dialogue and community engagement bloomed.
412 Food Rescue works with an active network of nearly 400 nonprofit partners in Allegheny, Westmoreland, Washington, Fayette, Beaver and Butler County. Our nonprofit partners are our community connectors and lifelines, so it is paramount to our work that we continuously gather feedback on how we can best meet the needs of each community. From the need to foster strong lines of communication came the idea to host a Nonprofit Partner Forum which we would use as a starting point for reassessment, check in, and community action collaboration.
The forum drew in nonprofits and community organizers from various corners of the city, creating a dynamic space for collaboration and dialogue. The day’s agenda covered a range of critical topics, from strategies for fundraising to discussions on volunteer and community engagement. The overarching theme revolved around how 412 Food Rescue could enhance its support for the community and strengthen its partnerships with non-profit organizations.
This years keynote speaker, Jo Demming, Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council, shared insights on collaborative efforts in community service, sparking new ideas among participants. As the day wrapped up, there was a tangible sense of shared commitment among attendees. The discussions and connections made during the forum set the stage for a more empowered and collaborative approach to community needs. Participants left with a collective determination to turn ideas into impactful actions, fostering a stronger and more connected community.
”Thank you so much for the amazing opportunity to meet and collaborate with so many players in the Pittsburgh nonprofit arena.

As someone new and helping to rebuild a food bank from the ground up, I can't express how important, priceless, this information is regarded.
Years ago, I volunteered delivering and tabling events, and you've been a favorite ever since.
I'm in my Lyft on my way home, beaming with excitement of what I'll soon share with my team, and all the collaboration to come."
We would like to thank all of our nonprofit attendees for participating and providing insightful feedback on how we can improve our work. If you were unable to attend the 2023 Nonprofit Partner Forum, please stay tuned in 2024! We will be hosting more of these sessions next year and would greatly appreciate your attendance and feedback.
