We talked to Consumer Fresh Produce’s Marketing Coordinator Maggie Carty about why ending #foodwaste and #hunger is so important!
Why is redirecting food surplus important to Consumer Fresh Produce?
Redirecting food surplus is important to CFP because we are dedicated to corporate responsibility and helping others. By donating this food, we are directly supporting those in need in our local community and impacting the environment in a positive way. We are glad there is an effective way to donate our products to those who need it and keep it out of the waste system.
How has your partnership with 412 Food Rescue impacted Consumer Fresh Produce?
We really like seeing the reports from 412 Food Rescue on what we donate annually. It’s amazing to see the numbers for what the food does, and how it affects our world. Additionally, our products are perishable so its critical that when its time for it to leave our warehouse, it gets to those who need it quickly. 412 Food Rescue ensures that it does.
If you could give someone one reason to volunteer with 412 Food Rescue, what would it be?
412 Food Rescue is truly immersed in their mission; when you volunteer with them you are making an impact on local people but also on land, water, and energy resources. It’s sort of a BOGO volunteer experience! The food isn’t just taken to a pantry – its used in so many positive, new ways.
