412 Food Rescue’s Leah Lizarondo to Speak at Davos 2021

The nonprofit CEO joins global leaders to discuss the role of women’s leadership in global resurgence at The Female Quotient’s Equality Lounge

PITTSBURGH, PA — (Jan. 26, 2021) Leah Lizarondo, Co-Founder and CEO of 412 Food Rescue, will speak at The Female Quotient’s Equality Lounge @ Davos 2021 this Wednesday, January 27, at 4:30 p.m. EST. The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting is 100% virtual this year, allowing anyone to sit in on conversations that usually happen in Davos, Switzerland.

In a session entitled “The Critical Role of Women’s Leadership in Global Recovery and Resurgence,” Leah Lizarondo will join Alyse Nelson, President and CEO of Vital Voices, and Kah Walla, Cameroonian Presidential Candidate, Activist, and Opposition Leader.

Lizarondo is an expert on using technology to address global problems like food insecurity, food waste, and climate change. An app developed by Leah’s team and used by 412 Food Rescue and organizations in 12 other cities, Food Rescue Hero, helps 19,000 volunteer drivers to redistribute more than 39 million pounds of food from the waste stream to people experiencing food insecurity. In 2020, Food Rescue Hero was named one of Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas and Lizarondo spoke about the technology with actress Elizabeth Banks at NowThis NEXT.

The Female Quotient is the official Equality partner at Davos, bringing together global leaders from the public and private spheres to discuss the most pressing topics of today, including the impact of the pandemic on gender equality, pay parity, and the future of work. Other Equality Lounge® speakers include social entrepreneur Amanda Nguyen, actress, dancer, and CEO Julianne Hough, best-selling author Eve Rodsky, and leaders from Facebook, NBCUniversal, Deloitte, JPMorgan Chase & Co., SAP, Johnnie Walker, Visa, and more.

Equality Lounge sessions are open to the public with online RSVP. Sessions run Tuesday, January 26 through Thursday, January 28. Leah Lizarondo will speak on Wednesday, January 27, from 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. EST.
